We are looking for an experienced Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) specialist solicitor to join Bridgewater Solicitors, a growing firm that provides personal career development and job satisfaction. This role is focused on managing a specialist caseload of legal claims against the Ministry of Defence (MOD), requiring a solicitor with a proven track record in litigation.
Duties
* Manage and handle a specialist caseload of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims specifically against the MOD.
* Take full responsibility for all aspects of the legal process, from initial instruction through to Trial or Settlement.
* Provide expert legal advice to service personnel and veterans, ensuring the highest level of service and empathy throughout the process.
* Conduct Litigation: Draft and prepare robust legal documentation, including Letters of Claim, Pleadings, and complex Schedules of Loss.
* Liaise with medical professionals, audiologists, and military experts to build technical evidence regarding noise exposure and causation.
* Ensure all cases are handled in a timely and efficient manner, meeting strict court deadlines and internal targets.
Skills
* 4-5+ years PQE in handling NIHL matters with a clear understanding of both the legal and medical nuances (Audiograms/ENT reports).
* Proven Court Experience: Confident in managing the litigation process, attending hearings, and conducting settlement negotiations or JSMs.
* In-depth knowledge of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations and the nuances of "Crown Culpability."
* Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to secure the best possible outcomes for claimants.
* Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving in complex liability disputes.
* Ability to work independently and manage a full, demanding caseload.
