Associate Sensory Science Manager
Location: Worksop/Hybrid (On-site approx. 4-5 days a week, occasional WFH opportunities)

A leading food business operating mainly in the ambient food sector, featuring in key grocery categories such as Flavourings & Seasonings, Quick Meals, Snacks & Soups, Ambient Desserts, and Cooking Sauces & Accompaniments. We also manufacture products like cakes and desserts for UK food retailers and have a growing international presence in markets like Australia, North America, and Ireland.
Purpose: As the Associate Sensory Science Manager, you will lead Sensory Excellence by managing a team of Sensory Panellists and a Sensory Panel Leader at our Worksop site. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure sensory work aligns with project needs, supporting product quality and consumer satisfaction across our brands such as Sharwoods, Mr Kipling, Batchelors, Oxo, Ambrosia, The Spice Tailor, and FUEL10K.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead sensory panel activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and business needs, managing multiple projects from inception to reporting.
* Apply sensory research methods like Descriptive Analysis, consensus profiling, and Discrimination testing.
* Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to generate insights.
* Maintain data quality by adhering to best practices and industry standards, training sensory panellists accordingly.
* Collaborate with NPD, Marketing, and R&D teams to deliver product research using trained panellists and methodologies such as QDA and Triangle Tests.
* Advocate for sensory science within the organization.
* Train and develop sensory panel members, leading business-wide training initiatives.
* Drive continuous improvement in sensory and consumer research capabilities.
* Manage resources efficiently, including panel recruitment, training, and management.
Candidate Profile:
* Passion for food with a strong understanding of sensory science principles and methods.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in sensory science, with hands-on panel management, training, and data analysis skills.
* Proficiency in sensory methodologies, statistical tools, and software such as XLstat and RedJade.
* Previous supervisory experience, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Full UK Driving License.
* Educational background in Food Science/Technology or related fields is desirable.
