Electrical Design Engineer
Abingdon (Hybrid : 3 days onsite)
Contract to March 2027 | £55/hr Umbrella (£40.08 PAYE)

Role
Opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support complex engineering projects, delivering designs from concept to detailed stage across major systems.
What You’ll Do
* Accountable for supporting design work on major fusion sub-systems, from concept through to detailed design on enhancement programs for facilities as well as for future fusion devices.
* Accountable for design aspects relating to all assigned systems / components including repair, replacement or upgrade activities.
* Deliver electrical designs, upgrades, and modifications.
* Produce technical documentation (drawings, BoMs, cable schedules).
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
* Support design validation and collaborate with wider teams.
* Apply design for manufacture and value engineering principles.
Requirements
* Electrical Engineering background with Control & Instrumentation experience
* Knowledge of UK/EU electrical standards (incl. BS EN 60204-1)
* Solid Works (Electrical) CAD experience
* Strong design, technical documentation, and communication skills
* Relevant qualification (Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent)
* Proficient in the knowledge and application of recognised drawing standards and BS EN 61082 in particular
Desirable
* BS 7671 (18th Edition)
* Experience with SolidWorks Electrical (currently used), EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical
BPSS clearance will be required
