Position Summary: Plan and manage a team of drivers, shunters, and clerks to achieve daily workload targets, ensuring productivity and service level standards are met.
Ensure full compliance with legislation related to health & safety, employment law, EU standards, and company hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage own and adjacent shifts to meet or exceed budgets.
* Establish clear and documented handovers, understanding issues and achievements, with documentation of productivity, accuracy, and issues.
* Deliver accuracy in customer credit processes.
* Ensure staff are trained, competent, and manage underperformance.
* Maintain drivers as ambassadors for the company, ensuring they are suitably attired and presentable.
* Conduct staff assessments and appraisals biannually.
* Deputise for senior managers when required.
* Plan and control labour to meet productivity and financial targets.
* Manage holiday schedules and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
* Plan future shifts considering forecast volumes, holidays, and absences.
* Support the preparation and maintenance of weekly financial figures.
Qualifications
Technical Competencies:
* Experience with scheduling systems (e.g., Paragon)
* Knowledge of AS400/JD Edwards
* Awareness of industry legislation and developments
* CPC qualification preferred but not essential
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy
