We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and caring Domestic Cleaner to join our dedicated team at our care home in Durham. As part of our housekeeping team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the people who live and work in our home. Purpose of the Role
* To take responsibility for the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the home
* To ensure a high standard of appearance throughout the premises, contributing directly to the comfort and well-being of each service user
* To maintain residents' privacy, dignity, and respect for their personal belongings
* To carry out all duties in accordance with the home's policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines
* To follow GSCC Codes of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers
Duties of a Domestic Cleaner
As a Domestic Cleaner, your responsibilities will include:
* Cleaning all rooms, including furniture, fittings, windows, carpets, fabrics, and equipment
* Ensuring high standards of hygiene by cleaning sanitary areas and equipment according to infection-control guidelines
* Safely disposing of waste bags and following proper waste management procedures
* Following safe working practices and reporting any faulty equipment to the Manager
* Using cleaning materials and equipment correctly and economically, keeping wastage to a minimum
* Supporting risk assessments and ensuring recommended actions are carried out
* Taking responsibility for Health & Safety, identifying and reporting potential hazards
* Ensuring all cleaning materials are stored and used safely, following COSHH regulations
* Reading and signing relevant communication logs and following instructions as required
* Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding service users, colleagues, and company information
* Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and development activities, both on and off site
* Reporting concerns or unusual situations to management promptly
* Remaining flexible and supporting the wider team by undertaking other duties where necessary to benefit service users
