Well-regarded Reading law firm is looking to recruit an Agricultural & Rural Property lawyer of 0 to 4 years’ PQE to their office in Reading. The team is regularly engaged in rural, agricultural and development transactions and advises on: • farm disposals and acquisitions: • farm related tenancies; • ancillary rural commercial ventures such as granting wayleaves and easements to utility providers; • farm business diversification projects, offering strategic land advice to clients seeking to leverage greater value through conversion of their natural land to consented development, which includes numerous residential development schemes, renewable energy projects, and biodiversity net gain offsetting, forestry, carbon offsetting and agri-environmental incentives and various other commercial enterprises. The successful candidate will run their own caseload of smaller matters (with an appropriate level of Partner supervision depending on your PQE), as well as assisting more senior members of the team on larger matters. The role offers a significant level of variety and interest. You will work across a range of agricultural and development work, which will include: • more traditional agricultural property work; • assisting clients with all manner of diversification projects. Clients will span many areas including: • farmers • landowners • investors • universities and colleges Day-to-day work on a wide range of matters connected with rural property will include: sales and acquisitions of agricultural land and buildings • property development; • investment work; • renewable energy projects; • drafting overage provisions; • farm-related tenancies including succession rights and surrenders; • wayleaves and easements; • occasionally supporting the wider real estate team; • involvement in business development opportunities as part of the team and firm generally. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an interest in the rural sector and have an affinity with the teams’ clients and contacts.
