The individual will assess the design / production / in-service aspects of Naval vessels, using procedures, experience and knowledge appropriate for complex / demanding situations.

The role
3. To conduct Product Verification, Build Surveillance activities, provide advice for our customer in Structural manufacture, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
4. To produce the deliverable to the agreed schedule, budget and quality levels within an appropriate format as requested.
5. To discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions as necessary.
6. Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards for Plate Manufacture, Material Assessment, Welding and NDE activities.
7. To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
8. To mentor / coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
9. To contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately.
10. Ensure the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity Monitoring
11. Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures
What you bring
12. A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
13. Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent).
14. Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.
15. To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
16. To use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology
17. To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems.
18. To provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned.
19. Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
