Job Specification: Shop Floor Works Operative (Dayshift)


Location: Perth

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Temp-to-Perm

Hours: Monday-Friday, Dayshift

Pay: 12.71 per hour



About the Role


We are recruiting a Shop Floor Works Operative to join a busy production environment in Perth. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to candidates who are comfortable working in an industrial or manufacturing setting, supporting day‑to‑day shop floor operations. The position involves manual tasks, movement of materials, basic machine support, and maintaining a safe and organised work area. It offers long‑term stability, full training, and opportunities to develop within the business.



Key Responsibilities

* Carry out general shop floor duties in support of production operations.
* Assist with the movement, handling, and preparation of materials and products.
* Operate basic machinery or equipment where trained and authorised to do so.
* Support production teams to meet daily and weekly output targets.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and organisation on the shop floor.
* Follow health and safety procedures at all times, including correct use of PPE.
* Carry out basic quality checks and report any defects, damage, or safety concerns.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
* Undertake additional duties as required to support the wider operation.


Essential Requirements

* Previous experience in a shop floor, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
* Willingness to carry out physical tasks and remain on your feet for extended periods.
* Good awareness of health and safety practices.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions accurately.
* A positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
* Right to work in the UK.


Desirable Skills

* Experience operating basic machinery or production equipment.
* Manual handling experience or awareness training.
* Familiarity with manufacturing, production, or factory environments.
* Understanding of workplace organisation systems such as 5S.
