Responsibilities
* Assist in the provision of the Medical Equipment Library service under the supervision of the Team Leader and Higher Clinical Support Worker, including weekend working.
* Work towards achieving recorded competencies and Btec Diploma, Level 2 Healthcare Science—leading to progression to Band 3 Higher Clinical Support Worker.
* Support all Clinical Engineering Departmental objectives and medical device service requirements through active locating and collection of devices for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
* Ensure Medical Equipment Library facilities are kept clear and well‑ordered and equipment storage areas are kept tidy.
* Deliver equipment to ward areas to fulfil loan requests.
* Assist hospital staff visiting the Medical Equipment Library to borrow equipment.
* Keep records of equipment loans.
* Collect equipment from ward areas at end of loan period.
* Commission equipment onto the asset register and conduct Electrical Safety Tests on Medical Devices as trained and deemed competent to do so.
* Clean returned equipment, reporting excessive or high‑risk contamination to the Team Leader within the Medical Equipment Library and Clinical Engineering as required.
* Check condition of equipment, reporting any damage to the Team Leader.
* Complete records of tests within the Asset Register.
* Perform stock takes of Medical Equipment Library stock, ensuring the Asset Register is up to date and accurate.
* Ensure adequate stock of materials to enable the Medical Equipment Library to function correctly.
* Operate a working pattern that encompasses weekend working as dictated by the Team Lead and Medical Device Safety Officer.
* Locate, collect and process Medical Devices required for Planned Preventative Maintenance in readiness for Clinical Engineering completion.
* Work safely when performing manual handling tasks.
* Be mindful of manual handling issues when storing equipment for loan.
* Work in a safe manner, reporting any Health and Safety issues outside of their control to the Team Leader or Head of Clinical Engineering.
Candidate Considerations
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as Priority and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
