While you’ll have heard our name, there’s a lot you probably don’t know about NEXT. Like how we create most of our systems ourselves – whether it’s a website, mobile app or application. What’s more, we’re growing. Fast. And it’s the kind of growth and investment that is exciting for everyone in our business.
Infrastructure & Cloud Services are at the forefront of everything from Cloud to Networking, Data Centres to virtual servers/servers (Windows and Linux) as well as desktops, Licensing and mobile phones! Every piece of infrastructure at Head office, in the stores, the warehouses, for the website or the contact centre are supported by this area. Central services such as Microsoft Azure, GSuite and GCP, file services, Citrix, Active Directory (and much more) are all provided and supported by this area.
The role
Technology drives what we do. Plain and simple. As we’re going through a huge change as a business, we need a solid team with us who are committed to driving our systems forward.
As an Infrastructure Engineer in the Network Development team you’ll play a key part in this. You’ll be joining a team of project-orientated engineers that are responsible for the development of NEXT’s networking infrastructure across Head Office, E-Commerce and the wider business. You’ll do this using different technologies:
1. Cisco routing and switching including BGP & OSPF
2. Palo Alto Firewalls (or similar layer 7 firewalls)
3. Wide Area Networks - MPLS and IPVPN
4. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or higher
In addition, we’re looking for you to be:
5. Able to speak, read and write English at a level that enables you to complete your role, for example, to understand instructions and communicate effectively with stakeholders and/or other team members
6. Experienced in effectively working in a collaborative manner in a large scale, fast paced environment within a multifunctional technical team
If security & firewalls are your thing, then we want to hear from you! You’ll also be shaping and implementing the next generation of networking infrastructure to future-proof our growth and there will be elements of critical fault finding & incident response to the role, just to keep you on your toes!
In addition to project work, you’ll occasionally provide support to internal users, as well as being part of the out-of-hours on call rota. You’ll also use your expertise and experience to help us continually improve our processes and working practices, actively enabling the department to become as efficient and effective as it can be.
You’ll be doing all this from our Leicestershire Head Office on a hybrid basis. A fast-paced, encouraging and supportive environment in which everyone brings an energy and a commitment to delivering for our customers and their own careers. Bring your energy. Play to your strengths. Make things bigger and better than before. Let’s Take It On.
We’re always happy to have candid chats about what you need, and where you need to be in order to be at your best. So, flexible working is fine by us.
So if you’re an expert in this field, have strong communication skills, up for a challenge, work with initiative and can build great working relationships within the business, this is the place for you – and your career.
