We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our client for a fixed term of 3 months. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of their chemical manufacturing facility. This role involves mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and supporting continuous improvement across production equipment such as mixers, pumps, and conveyors.
THE ROLE:
* Conduct Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Perform maintenance on mechanical equipment, including mixers, pumps, valves, and gear boxes.
* Respond to Breakdowns: Diagnose faults and complete repairs promptly to minimize downtime.
* Overhaul Mechanical Components: Refurbish parts such as bearings, shafts, seals, and drive systems.
* Assist with Equipment Installation: Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of plant equipment and production lines.
* Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety in operations.
* Ensure Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations during maintenance activities.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Team: Provide support as directed to ensure smooth business operations.
CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE:
* Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within chemical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
* Competence in mechanical assembly.
* Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drives.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and adhere to tight tolerances.
* Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Time-served Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 qualification.
* Basic understanding of electrical systems.
* Knowledge or experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
HOURS & RATE:
* £20.51 per hour
* Monday to Friday 7:30 - 16:00
* FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 3 Months
