The Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a Student Services Administrator (Engagement) available from January 2026. The Faculty’s mission is to understand societal challenges to achieve social change for public good. We deliver on this aim through our approach to both education and research. Our education focuses on providing an inclusive and empowering approach that changes our students’ lives and, by so doing, contributes to broader social change. And our research involves carrying out curiosity-driven and action-oriented research to help tackle societal challenges through improved understanding. The Students Services Administrator will join the Engagement Professional Services Team supporting York Law School and Department of Sociology. The role of Student Services Administrator is both busy and varied, and involves supporting a large number of students, including international students. You will gain an understanding of a range of programme structures and regulations to respond to detailed queries. You will support the student lifecycle, from induction to graduation. Take responsibility for administering a full range of administrative tasks, with the objective of sharing best practice, improving efficiency and communication. With the ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst managing conflicting priorities, the role-holder will be expected to provide high levels of customer service at all times with a friendly, approachable, ‘can-do’ attitude. Role Ensuring student records are up to date and accurate Process forms relating to leave of absence, transfers and appeals Respond in a timely manner to student queries in person, via email, phone, and the student reception Support student engagement and visa monitoring Contribute to the delivery of student events and forums Creating student-focused communications across newsletters, social media and other channels Maintain flexibility to support other Student Services teams Skills, Experience & Qualification needed Level 2 qualification including Maths and English.
