Are you a technical expert in construction and defect resolution with a passion for improving build quality and customer satisfaction? Aster Group is looking for an experienced Aftercare Technical Manager to lead our Latent Defects team and ensure our newly built homes meet the highest standards.
About the Role
As the Aftercare Technical Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting Aster's strategic priorities for new build developments. You'll oversee technical design reviews, manage latent defects, and coordinate seamless handovers of new properties. Working closely with development and customer care teams, you'll help prevent defects, resolve issues efficiently, and enhance the long-term maintenance and investment of our housing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Technical and Latent Defects team within Property Investment.
* Review technical designs and specifications to identify and mitigate risks.
* Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, NHBC/LABC standards, and best practices.
* Conduct site inspections and provide technical assessments and solutions.
* Support teams post-handover and ensure all stakeholders are informed and prepared.
* Implement lessons learned to improve future project designs and processes.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and warranty providers.
* Maintain detailed records and produce reports on trends and to ensure risk mitigation and data accuracy.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Extensive experience in housebuilding, construction, or defect resolution.
* Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and warranty standards.
* Proven ability to review technical designs and coordinate remedial works.
* Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
* Relevant qualifications in construction, surveying, or engineering (e.g., HNC/HND, degree, CIOB, RICS).
* Experience working with developers and warranty providers.
* Technical expertise in building methods, materials, and legislation.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with digital defect management and BIM systems.
* Ability to communicate technical matters to non-technical audiences.
* Up-to-date knowledge of national and local housing policy.
