Job Overview
The post holder will assess and coordinate information to determine whether a person has a diagnosis of autism, identify relevant traits and advise on management strategies. They will educate, advise and consult with the workforce and multiple agencies to improve services for autistic people, using various communication platforms. The role is based at Eastway with opportunities for hybrid working, including face‑to‑face assessments and follow‑up appointments in Macclesfield’s local Autism Hub. Workshops will be delivered across the CWP footprint (Wirral, Cheshire West, and Cheshire East). The position is part‑time at Band 6 level and requires professional registration as a Specialist Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Speech and Language Therapist.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct assessments to determine autism diagnosis.
* Gather and coordinate information on relevant traits and support needs.
* Provide education, advice and consultation to staff and partner agencies.
* Deliver workshops across the CWP footprint.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide whole‑person care.
* Maintain accurate records and support data collection.
* Facilitate training of other professionals and services.
* Engage in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
* Manage crisis situations and conflict resolution.
* Participate in regular team meetings and lead small groups when required.
Essential Criteria
* Registered Nurse, Registered Occupational Therapist or Registered Speech and Language Therapist with current UK professional registration.
* At least one year of post‑qualifying experience supporting adults with autism.
* Direct experience working with clients who have complex needs, including multiple co‑morbidities.
* Ability to assess and plan care for clients and carers.
* Excellent record‑keeping and documentation skills.
* Strong communication skills and ability to lead meetings and teams.
* Commitment to ongoing professional training.
Desirable Criteria
* Degree in a health‑care related field.
* Experience in quality improvement initiatives.
* Confidence and experience managing challenging or crisis situations.
* Experience using assessments to identify needs.
* Participation in service developments.
