Senior Quantity Surveyor required for a leading civil engineering contractor.
Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a wide range of infrastructure and construction projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, based in Preston, working on a hybrid basis across site, office and home.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a senior role within the business, leading commercial delivery, mentoring junior staff, and working closely with operational teams to achieve strong project and framework financial performance.
Experience Required:
1. Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or construction
2. Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
3. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
4. Excellent commercial, financial and cost management skills
5. Experience managing the full project lifecycle from tender through to final account
6. Ability to manage and mentor QSs and Assistant QSs
7. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
8. High levels of professionalism and commercial integrity
Duties include:
9. Leading the end-to-end commercial process from enquiry, delivery and final account close-out
10. Preparing, reviewing and updating project budgets and cost estimates
11. Producing and presenting accurate monthly CVRs and cost/value forecasts
12. Managing compensation events, variations and maintaining CE registers / CEMAR
13. Implementing cost control and value engineering measures
14. Managing contract documentation, bills of quantities and scopes of work
15. Leading commercial negotiations and resolving contractual issues or disputes
16. Managing applications for payment and ensuring cash flow targets are achieved
17. Acting as the main commercial interface with clients and stakeholders
18. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
19. Mentoring and developing junior and intermediate commercial staff
