I'm excited to be partnering with a highly successful global valve manufacturer who are looking for a Head of R&D Manager to be based out of their South Yorkshire site. This role will have responsibility across the EMEA region and therefore would be suitable for candidates in the Yorkshire area, who are also happy with occasional international travel.With a market-leading range of products supplied to a large customer base, this business is looking for an innovative and strategically minded individual who can continue to drive the product portfolio forward as the business diversifies into new and existing markets.
Job Description
Managing a team of Design, Development, VA-VE and Controls Engineers, this Head of R&D role will have full responsibility for driving innovation, product development and compliance for the EMEA region, in alignment with the company's strategic goals.Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
3. Leading and coordinating Valve R&D across multiple European sites
4. Managing and developing several international engineering teams
5. Defining and executing the product and technology roadmap for new product groups
6. Overseeing the full end-to-end life cycle, from design through validation to industrialisation
7. Actively contributing to value engineering initiatives in an effort to lower costs, whilst bringing new and existing products to market quicker and more reliably
8. Ensuring all valve products meet the necessary product specifications and technical compliance, any additional customer requirements
9. Monitoring and responding to regulatory changes, sustainability targets and customer trends to always be ahead of the market
The Successful Applicant
Successful candidates will have a strong manufacturing design and development background and a good understanding of the valve, pumps, HVAC, fluid flow or similar industries.You will also have:
10. Skilled design background; CAD, FEA, product lifecycle management systems etc.
11. Strong leadership skills to effectively coach, manage and develop the engineering teams, and ability to do this remotely across the international teams
12. Experience in both design leadership roles and relevant product knowledge from the valve, pumps, HVAC, fluid flow or similar industries
13. Innovative and strategic mindset to help take the company forward
14. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across several complex projects at once
15. Proven track record of reducing costs without negatively impacting performance
16. Chartered status or relevant MSc degree would be advantageous
