We are recruiting for a Business Development role and expanding in the Telecoms, SCADA, and Station Information and Security Systems (SISS) as well as other areas of the transport industry. The CIS business unit is expanding its Business Development team with the addition of a Business Development Manager to support and develop the success to date. This will be a key position in the CIS and Rail Infrastructure Business Development teams. The role reports to the Business Development Lead in CIS and works closely with CIS portfolio heads and the broader Rail Infrastructure Strategy and Business Development team, including Marketing, Bids and Tendering, and interfaces into Engineering delivery. The role aims to position and secure business from across the UK rail market with a focus on the telecoms segment, including the emerging Cyber Security segment and dedicated network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Business Development / Pipeline Generation: support the agreed business plan through the development and delivery of a robust telecoms pipeline for identified segments within the rail industry and associated bodies (eg devolved Transport Bodies).
* Support the development and implementation of Rail Infrastructure opportunity win strategies to position the organisation to secure new business.
* Identify, track and present industry trends and produce growth forecasts and respective PLM-S strategy meetings to ensure product development meets market demand.
* Analyze competitor portfolio to establish differentiation across markets.
* Customer Engagement: attend strategic events, record and distribute key information, and be an ambassador for Siemens; grow overall customer satisfaction and revenues from key accounts/stakeholders.
* Foster authentic and personal relationships with customers and stakeholders from the earliest stages of business development;
* Be the "voice of the customer" and ensure their outcomes, benefits and aspirations are understood and communicated to inform new technology developments within Siemens Rail Infrastructure & CIS.
* Creative thinker, able to work under pressure with tight deadlines, and present new commercial ideas to the rail market.
* Bids: lead customer-focused proposal generation through handover to bids; develop opportunity capture plans; participate in pre and post bid negotiations encompassing technical, financial and commercial considerations.
* Lead market & competitor analysis to identify new business offerings and routes to market for account regions; ensure benefits realisation and outcomes are built into opportunities and followed through in proposal management.
* Update and comply with company processes and standards related to Business Development.
Qualifications
* Proven sales or customer-focused experience in a large-scale technology or project delivery business (essential).
* Established rail professional with working knowledge of the UK railway market, especially Network Rail organisation & structure (essential).
* Successful track record of customer and value-based business development (essential).
* Commercially astute with a high degree of integrity (essential).
* Highly self-motivated and agile, able to generate and manage multiple portfolios (essential).
* Results-focused, determined and resilient (essential).
* Strong influencing skills (essential).
* Good degree of mobility to spend time away from the base office as required (essential).
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a business or technically related discipline (desirable).
* Experience in UK Rail telecommunications and station systems (desirable).
