We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Safe Communities Officer to help create safer, more supportive neighbourhoods. You’ll take a swift, victim‑centred approach to reports of anti‑social behaviour (ASB) and hate crime, working closely with residents, colleagues and partner agencies to reduce harm and deliver lasting solutions. Managing a geographically based caseload, you’ll assess risk and impact, act proportionately, and take ownership of cases through to resolution. Safeguarding sits at the heart of everything you do, and you’ll play a key role in helping individuals and communities feel heard, supported and safe. Permanent | Full Time | 37 hours per week | Monday to Friday | On the road | Norfolk based This role will be covering Norfolk with travel to other areas and offices in the Norfolk/Eastern area Due to the nature of the role, a company car will be provided. Key Responsibilities Managing and investigating reports of ASB and hate crime, taking timely and proportionate action Building strong, empathetic relationships with victims, witnesses and communities Assessing risk and impact, acting quickly to reduce harm, escalation and organisational risk Working collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies and external stakeholders Preparing legal cases, gathering evidence, drafting paperwork and attending court where required Maintaining responsibility for cases until a full and sustainable resolution is achieved Skills and Experience A strong understanding of community safety issues, including ASB, hate crime and safeguarding Experience of working with vulnerable individuals and communities The ability to manage a complex caseload with effective prioritisation and sound judgement Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a calm and empathetic approach Strong problem‑solving and risk management skills A full UK driving licence Please see the attached Safe Communities Officer – The Part I Play Statement for further details on responsibilities and requirements.
