Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Nursing and Patient Safety Specialist to join the Nursing & Quality Team at Humber NHS. This role provides professional leadership for our Nursing workforce and leads initiatives to foster a positive patient safety culture.
You will be part of a high-performing, psychologically safe, and supportive team committed to delivering excellent patient care through collaborative work with operational colleagues.
The ideal candidate operates in line with Humber values and has experience in leading organizational change, contributing to the ongoing journey of delivering outstanding care.
You will be responsible for providing nursing leadership, visibility, and expert support in patient safety, clinical quality improvement, assurance, strategies, and plans across the organization.
You will work closely with the Deputy Director of Nursing, AHP, and Social Work.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide support and clinical leadership for Matrons to ensure high-quality services and optimal patient outcomes.
2. Act as one of the Trust's Patient Safety Specialists, working with Patient Safety Partners to ensure incident investigations promote learning and quality improvement.
3. Collaborate with the Deputy Director of Nursing, Allied Health and Social Care Professionals, divisional managers, governance, and education teams to ensure seamless care pathways and a positive safety culture.
4. Provide leadership and technical support to teams and senior managers regarding patient safety and clinical standards.
5. Advise the Trust and Board on safer staffing, clinical risk, and quality improvement initiatives, especially in mental health services.
6. Lead quality improvement initiatives and implement national directives across the nursing workforce, with a focus on mental health.
7. Deputize for the Deputy Director of Nursing, Allied Health & Social Care Professionals as needed.
