About the Role:Forth Valley College's Apprenticeships, Skills & Commercial Department is seeking to appoint a Work Based Assessor - Instrumentation & Control, Electrical to join our engineering assessment team.
This role is central to supporting and assessing candidates undertaking SVQs and Modern Apprenticeships within Instrumentation & Control and Electrical disciplines. The successful candidate will bring current industry knowledge and experience, alongside an understanding of vocational qualifications and quality assurance frameworks.
You will work closely with employers and apprentices to ensure robust assessment practice, timely progression and achievement in line with awarding body standards and Skills Development Scotland contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Provide structured guidance and support to candidates in compiling and presenting portfolios of evidence aligned to qualification performance criteria Conduct fair, safe and reliable workplace assessments in line with awarding body and internal quality assurance requirements Monitor candidate progress to ensure timely achievement and completion Maintain accurate documentation and reporting using digital systems Build effective relationships with employers to support apprentice development Contribute to continuous improvement of assessment and internal verification processes* Work collaboratively as part of the engineering assessment team
Essential Requirements: Proven, relevant and up-to-date hands-on industry experience in Instrumentation & Control and/or Electrical disciplines Time-served background with substantial practical experience in industrial environments Strong understanding of current industry standards and safe working practices Excellent communication and IT skills Ability to manage workload effectively and work to agreed deadlines Commitment to supporting apprentice development and professional growth* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, as the role involves regular travel to employer sites
Desirable Qualifications: Recognised Assessor qualification (e.g. L&D9DI or A1, D32/D33) Internal Verifier qualification (or willingness to work towards)* Experience of delivering or assessing Modern Apprenticeships
