We are seeking a qualified teacher with QTS and a strong subject specialism in Sociology to lead our successful and well-regarded department at a thriving secondary school in Ilford. As Head of Sociology, you will:
* Lead and develop Sociology across KS4 and KS5, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
* Design and deliver a rigorous, engaging curriculum that promotes critical thinking and academic excellence
* Drive strong outcomes through effective assessment, intervention, and enrichment
* Support and develop colleagues through coaching, collaboration, and shared best practice
* Contribute to departmental and whole-school improvement as a valued middle leader
* Promote inclusive practice and a deep understanding of social issues among students
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Has a strong track record of excellent Sociology teaching at secondary level, particularly at KS5
* Demonstrates leadership experience or clear potential to lead a subject area
* Is intellectually curious, reflective, and committed to evidence-informed practice
* Has high expectations for student behaviour, engagement, and achievement
* Is keen to contribute to the wider academic and pastoral life of the school
