The Role
Specialising in home improvements, 5 Star have grown from strength to strength with most new work coming from satisfied customers recommending our services. Our head office and main showroom is based in Kidderminster, but also have a showroom in Worcester and Telford.
We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety (H&S) Officer to ensure 5 Star is fully compliant in accordance with HSE policies and legal requirements.
Supported by Citation, H&S experts within the construction sector, the successful candidate will provide information, support and advice throughout the business and constantly review the H&S within 5 Star, striving to promote openness and transparency to improve the culture within the business.
Key responsibilities include:
* Champion H&S throughout the business, working with colleagues and Managers to ensure compliance is being adhered to.
* Carry out regular inspections and audits relating to H&S within the business, both onsite and offsite.
* Maintain accurate records and reporting of all H&S aspects for potential audits and investigations, ensuring data is addressed and processed in a timely manner.
* Work with the business in achieving and maintaining ISO accreditations
* Manage building maintenance, in terms of H&S issues or risks.
* Plan works effectively to ensure PAT testing, fire safety (alarm testing, drills, fire extinguisher checks, etc), emergency lighting and other essential compliance
* Arrange/facilitate training for employees/sub-contractors relating to H&S
* Advising on safe working practises and make recommendations for improvements
* Communicate effectively and with the business
To be considered for this role you will need:
* Effective and reliable communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Experience in a similar H&S role
* Relevant H&S accreditations, such as IOSH & NEBOSH (preferred, not essential)
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive and 'can-do' attitude
* Valid driving licence (essential)

Salary: £29,000 per annum
