Group Accountant Role overview: Reporting to the Group Head of Consolidation & Reporting, the Group Accountant will work closely with the Group Consolidation & Reporting Manager and the Group Analyst to ensure the accuracy and integrity of TM1 (IBM financial consolidation system). TM1 plays a key governance & financial reporting role as the Group’s financial consolidation system that is used by over 200 individual reporting entities within the Spirax Group. The role supports the team’s maintenance, configuration and strategic development of TM1. The Group’s recent track record of high-growth, combined with the increasing demands of external governance, reporting and disclosure requirements mean that this is a crucial role within Group Finance as the TM1 system is relied upon as the key facilitator of internal and external financial reporting. In addition to the relevant expertise in modelling, analysing and interpreting large data sets, the successful candidate should be able accurately create, reconcile and present financial data. The role will be responsible for triaging requests for support from the Group operating companies and assisting with correcting errors and easing the submission process burden, by ensuring all reporting is as accurate and reliable as possible to meet the Groups reporting deadlines. The candidate will get exposure to the local finance teams within the Group operating businesses and the wider Group Finance functions whilst creating additional reporting for the Tax, Treasury and Statutory teams. Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on: Build strong relationships with the Group’s local finance teams in all the operating businesses, helping to ensure accuracy of financial reporting submissions, both Actuals and Plans / Forecasts. Review the financial reporting submissions of all Group entities in order to identify and correct any errors or omissions in order to ensure the integrity and accuracy of Group Finance reporting. Gain a broad understanding of the Group reports and finance function. Design/develop new and innovative ways of checking the accuracy of data submitted from multiple sources. Help develop the consolidation system within the Group Finance team in order to facilitate automation of all required Group Financial reporting. Work closely with the Group Finance team to resolve reporting issues, correct submission mistakes, and provide support in use of the TM1 suite of tools. Make recommendations on how to improve existing reports and processes to align with business requirements and help the team embed these changes into the consolidation system and reporting. Support maintenance of TM1 to ensure the systems are kept in line with changing reporting and administrative requirements. Provide expertise and training to users to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the data gather and reporting processes. Write bespoke reports and dashboards for TM1 Finance. The role location is flexible and is envisaged to be split between the Group Head Office in Cheltenham and home / remote working. Advanced Excel User with the ability to model large data sets. Financial system experience covering maintenance and development. Experience in the reconciliation, creation and presentation of financial data.
