Offer description

Are you practical, enjoy fixing things, and looking for a role where your skills make a real difference to people's lives? We're looking for a Field Service Engineer / Technician to join our team at the Herefordshire Wheelchair Service centre.

This is a rewarding hands-on position maintaining and repairing manual and powered wheelchairs for NHS wheelchair users across Herefordshire. Every day, your work will directly support people's independence, mobility, and quality of life.

About Us

TPG DisableAids is a well-established family business serving Herefordshire since 1985. We are a market-leading supplier of assistive technology, providing equipment, servicing, and support across an 80-mile radius of Hereford. Our dedication to quality and care has been recognised nationally, including being named BHTA Retailer of the Year.

The Role

No two days will be the same – you'll be:

* Delivering, servicing, and repairing wheelchairs and accessories.
* Visiting service users in their homes, as well as schools, care homes, hospitals, and sometimes working from our warehouse.
* Using hand tools and diagnostic skills to identify and fix faults.
* Properly recording all work completed on a daily basis.

Additional warehouse duties may be required from time to time, keeping the team running smoothly.

About You

We're open to both experienced technicians and trainees with natural practical skills – full product training will be provided. What matters most is that you are:

* A confident user of hand tools with good fault-finding ability.
* Practical, hands-on, and enjoy problem solving.
* Able to deliver excellent customer service with an empathetic approach.
* Positive, reliable, and keen to learn.

Previous wheelchair or healthcare equipment experience is desirable but not essential – if you're handy with tools and willing to learn, we'll train you

Once fully trained, you can also take part in our on-call rota, responding to urgent repairs outside of normal hours to help maintain continuity of service for our wheelchair users.

Requirements

* Full UK driving licence.
* GCSE passes in Maths & English (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
* Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure (due to working in regulated activity).

Working Hours

* 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
* 8:30am – 5pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

Benefits

* Overtime paid at a premium rate.
* Up to 5% employer-matched pension contribution.
* Be part of a friendly, supportive team in a rewarding role where no two days are the same.

We value diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
