Hundreds of professionals have been equipped by the training they have received at HDS and have used the experience in their work as teachers, social workers and in other 'people-facing' professions, for example. Some have shared their experience by returning to teach on our courses, contributed to our conferences and events, and by publishing books and papers. We believe our professional training will help to relieve mental and emotional distress by increasing the availability of, an access to, high quality psychodynamic and psychoanalytic counselling and psychotherapy for all who need them. Our counselling services provides support to adults, children and young people, employers and employees. We also provide an affordable option to clients seeking counselling but where finances can be a challenge. Our Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (CAP) programme is a practical and theoretical training course in psychoanalytical psychotherapy with children and young people. This course is the only one in Scotland which is approved by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

What will you be doing?
Human Development Scotland (HDS) is an organisation that provides high-quality psychodynamic training and services, aiming to make psychodynamic counselling and therapy, and the theories that inform them, more accessible across Scotland. As a Scottish charity, our volunteer Trustees contribute significantly to our overall charitable objectives and we value their knowledge and experience. It's an exciting time to join our Board at HDS as we continue to develop our strategy and target growth in all aspects of our work. The postholder must be able to work effectively as part of a team of volunteer Trustees and be prepared to dedicate time to attend Board meetings (usually six meetings per year). While an in-depth understanding of the theories informing the psychotherapeutic training or work of the organisation is not required, the Treasurer should have a grounded belief in the value of high-quality psychotherapy and counselling in effecting change in people's lives.
