SUPPORT WORKER - £12.60 PER HOUR
New Choices is a new company owned by Bradford Council. New Choices delivers day services and support to approximately 283 across the district in 19 locations and supported by 189 staff. This is a very exciting time for learning disability services in Bradford as New Choices will be transforming the way in which day services operate. New Choices is an exciting venture with a vision to give people the support and skills they need to achieve their aspirations and outcomes and being co-contributors to their local communities. The management team are committed to being innovative and flexible, working in partnership with the people who use the services and the staff, putting them at the heart of shaping its future.

At New Choices staff are trained to support people using Person-centred Active Support (PCAS), namely:
Making sure that you support people to be as involved as possible in every moment of their lives
Offering 'just enough' support to ensure people succeed
Ensuring that people, you support make as many choices as possible, so they remain in control
Keeping the people we support and yourself safe by following government and industry guidelines and wearing the correct PPE at all times
Support people with learning disabilities to the highest standard and in line with their support plan, cultural needs and wishes
# Support people with personal care if required, which may include toileting and bathing, in line with their support plan
# Support and encourage people to make choices and life decisions in line with the Mental Capacity Act requirements
# people with their health needs as required, e.g. taking medication and liaising with their carers if they are unwell or have changing health needs
# Support people with their finances when accessing day time opportunities with New Choices, where necessary, and in line with New Choices guidelines.
# Promote health, safety and well-being of the people we support
# Improve the support provided by discussing any new ideas
# Participate in learning and development opportunities as required
# Safeguarding - protect the people being supported from abuse/poor practice by undertaking Safeguarding Adults Training so you understand how, when and who to report concerns to
# Adhere to and maintain New Choices Health and Safety policies, standards and guidelines at all times
# All employees are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises in order that tasks which are not specifically covered in their job description are covered.

60 per hour
