Salary £24,000 - £26,000 DOE Responsibilities Assist solicitors and legal professionals in managing a diverse caseload of housing disrepair litigation cases from inception to resolution. Draft, review, and prepare legal documentation, including correspondence, pleadings, and witness statements. Support initial client consultations by gathering and analyzing relevant information related to claims. Liaise with clients, housing authorities, landlords, and third-party vendors (e.g., surveyors and contractors) on case progress and communication. Conduct legal research on housing law, disrepair issues, and court procedures, providing recommendations where necessary. Monitor key filing deadlines, court dates, and compliance with case-specific timelines. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records using legal case management systems. Ensure a client-centered approach, promoting access to justice with empathy and professionalism. Work collaboratively with the legal team to support strategic goals, enhance processes, and champion inclusive practices for all stakeholders. Qualifications Essential Requirements: A legal qualification (e.g., LLB, GDL, or equivalent) or demonstrated experience as a paralegal in housing disrepair or litigation fields. Strong understanding of housing disrepair law, civil procedure rules, and litigation case management. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively and sensitively. Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Day-to-Day As a Paralegal in Housing Disrepair Litigation, your day typically includes: Meeting with solicitors to discuss case progress and priorities for the day. Drafting legal documents such as letters of claim or procedural submissions to court. Communicating with tenants, landlords, and external experts, ensuring all parties are informed and engaged. Conducting in-depth legal research to inform case strategies and prepare for litigation proceedings. Assisting with filing court documents, monitoring deadlines, and preparing case files for hearings. Logging documents and updates into the case management system to maintain accurate case records.
