You’ll be joining phs Group, the largest hygiene services provider in the UK with 120,000 customers in more than 300,000 locations. You will support phs Compliance, the UK’s leading provider of electrical and testing services with over 500 employees. You’ll work directly for the MD of phs Compliance and be responsible for the customer billing and credit management functions. This diverse role involves providing commercial and financial advice, challenge, and support to the MD and managers. The Role of Finance Business Partner with phs Compliance
1. Prepare and manage the annual budget, monthly forecast, and detailed reporting and analysis of variances, including plans for addressing any negative variances.
2. Provide proactive and meaningful financial analysis and advice on operational issues and commercial decision-making, including pricing policy, business cases, capex requirements, and tracking costs and benefits.
3. Support the Managing Director in the profitable development of the business within the framework of the phs Compliance business plan.
4. Provide clear management information to enable fact-based decision making. Present reports in a consistent, clear format, interpreting variances and trends, and relating these to operational performance.
5. Prepare monthly trading reviews and board reports, presenting meaningful results to senior leaders.
6. Coordinate the division’s budget and forecasting processes, providing analysis and commentary to the Leadership Team and Group Finance.
7. Ensure robust financial controls, high standards in financial systems and reporting, data accuracy, and legal compliance.
8. Work with the MD and leaders to develop pricing policies that deliver new business with acceptable margins and risks, and improve operational efficiency and profitability.
9. Collaborate with the Billing and Credit Control Manager to ensure correct billing and cash collection, managing cash to terms and achieving budgeted DSO.
10. Produce accurate reports on Credit Management performance.
The right person for the role
* A commercially astute, proactive self-starter, based in or near Warrington, qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA).
* Experience as a Business Partner within a senior management team, understanding key business drivers.
* Experience in maintaining profitability and service standards using KPIs and ratios.
* Strong commercial awareness, ensuring opportunities are evaluated to minimize risks and maintain profit margins.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of contributing to strategy and policy development, with an open, honest, and constructive approach.
* Broad financial management experience in a B2B service organization, with a proactive, ownership-driven attitude.
