Your new role
As Finance and Payroll Manager, you’ll take full ownership of financial operations and payroll management. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys improving processes, and brings fresh ideas to the table. Our client is looking for an experienced senior finance professional – someone that enjoys getting involved in the detail and driving continuous improvement.
1. Managing and leading a small finance team
2. Reviewing and authorising end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accurate handling of pensions, HMRC submissions, and all statutory returns.
3. Using payroll software to manage all payroll and pension tasks
4. Producing payroll journals, reporting schedules, P60s, P11Ds, and managing starters/leavers (P45s)
5. Monitoring and reconciling sales ledger, purchase ledger
6. Ensuring all month-end procedures arepleted accurately and on time
7. Strong understanding and experience with rebate processes as a key function in trackingpany profitability
8. Controlling month-end ledger closures and supplier payments
9. Authorising bank payments and ensuring timely processing
10. Producing monthly financial reports for the MD and quarterly reports for the bank
11. Preparing quarterly VAT returns, VAT payments
12. Preparing year-end accounts and liaising with auditors to produce required reports
13. Reconciling bank accounts and matching system reports
14. Maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset register and balance sheet accounts
15. Managing purchase ledger and stock purchase ledger
16. Monitoring supplier credit limits and ensuringpliance
17. Extracting and importing data from various systems, including merce platforms
18. Supporting online order processing and sales reporting
19. Driving process improvements and contributing new ideas
20. Adapting to bespoke accounting systems and supporting system transitions
What you'll need to succeed
21. Proven experience in a senior, hands-on finance role
22. Strong knowledge of payroll, VAT, reconciliations, and financial standards
23. Experience managing a finance team and working with auditors
24. Familiarity with purchase ledger, stock ledger, and supplier credit management
25. Understanding of rebate processes and their impact on profitability
26. Exposure to merce platforms and online sales data
27. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
28. Amercially aware individual with a strong understanding of merce and online selling platforms is desirable.
