Transport Operations OfficerHourly Rate: £16.35 PAYELocation: Barnsley S70Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Office-based)We are seeking a Transport Operations Officer to manage and control the authority's fleet operations. This role involves vehicle allocation, scheduling, testing, monitoring, and disposal. The successful candidate will also manage the booking system and ensure robust systems are in place to support the Fleet Operation.Day-to-day of the role:Manage customers' short-term hire requirements, including bookings, allocating appropriate vehicles, and maintaining hire records.Oversee the vehicle and plant service schedule, ensuring availability for maintenance.Manage the approved supplier list for spot hire and contract hire of vehicles.Liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including managers, employees, subcontractors, and the public, maintaining effective communication and information links.Operate the daily functions of the workshop through time recording and data allocation systems.Input, check, and maintain various electronic and paper-based systems, ensuring information accuracy and confidentiality.Handle cash and debit/credit card payments, keeping accurate and detailed records as per internal audit procedures.Manage documentation related to supplier, customer, and internal non-conformances.Provide accurate information for the production of invoices for warranty claims.Conduct routine checks of driving licenses, MOTs, and insurance where applicable.Required Skills & Qualifications:Significant experience in vehicle licensing and hire.Proficient in data analysis and understanding performance indicators.Familiar with policies and procedures regarding vehicle maintenance and driving legislation.Extensive experience in the daily operations of a vehicle workshop.Ability to work to and meet strict deadlines.Knowledge of vehicle excise licensing and testing legislation.Thorough understanding of goods vehicle operator licensing.Familiarity with systems and terminology used in the servicing of fleet vehicles.Benefits:Access to a dedicated consultant for ongoing support.Secure and user-friendly online system for timesheets.Self-service portal for managing holiday requests, payslips, and other employment documents.Access to free training, discount clubs, healthcare options, and Reed rewards.Inclusion in pension schemes, paid holiday schemes, and maternity benefits.Opportunities to work with leading UK employers including local authorities, the NHS, and local SMEs.To apply for the Transport Operations Officer position, please submit your CV and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you are interested in this role.
