We are looking for resilient, energetic, and compassionate individuals to support young people in secondary schools and alternative provisions who face barriers to learning, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, school refusal, trauma, and involvement with external agencies.
This role is particularly well suited to:
1. Sports coaches and athletes who understand discipline, motivation, and mentoring
2. Creative graduates and performers who can engage and inspire young people through relationship-building and self-expression
3. Aspiring Youth Justice Officers, Social Workers, Therapists, Teachers, Educational Psychologists, and Youth Workers
4. Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Drama, Sports Science, Performing Arts, or related subjects
5. Individuals passionate about equality, inclusion, and improving life chances for vulnerable young people
The schools and alternative provisions you will work within provide structured, restorative, and trauma-informed environments designed to re-engage students who may have struggled in mainstream education. You will play a key role in helping pupils regulate emotions, rebuild confidence, improve attendance, and achieve academically and socially.

The Role – Raising Attainment Through Relationships
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
6. Support students on a 1:1 and small-group basis both inside and outside the classroom
7. Help pupils re-engage with learning and improve educational outcomes
8. Build positive, professional relationships with vulnerable young people
9. Use restorative approaches and positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation
10. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, therapists, and external professionals
11. Encourage confidence, resilience, and aspirations for future education and employment
12. Become a positive role model for young people who may lack consistent support
Candidate Profile
