Due to targeted growth, TBG Solutions is seeking to strengthen its commercial team by appointing a Technical Support Engineer.

As a turnkey solution provider within the test automation sector, TBG Solutions delivers highly detailed and bespoke proposals. These typically include system control architecture drawings, 2D and 3D mechanical CAD models, and fully described test sequences. To support this level of technical detail, the commercial team requires dedicated engineering input.

As a Technical Sales Support Engineer at TBG Solutions, you won’t be a background technician or a last-minute fixer. You’ll be a strategic voice in the room, partnering with sales, engineering, and customers to shape solutions before they exist on paper. You’ll connect technical insight with business impact, helping customers see not just what our solutions do,but why they matter to them.

We work with customers to understand their requirements and, on identifying the principal challenges, engineer robust solutions that combine hardware and software. As our newly appointed Technical Sales Support Engineer you will, define concepts and architectures from customer requirements, implement sales processes, cost generation and onsite sales support for requirement gathering, concept presentation purposes.


Role responsibilities

* Work closely with the Commercial Directors and customers to gather technical and application requirements.
* With input from the wider engineering team, you will help define the most appropriate technical solution and develop the core technical content for quotations and cost sheets.
* Liaising with key suppliers of hardware and instrumentation to support accurate and competitive proposals.
* Attend joint customer calls alongside the commercial lead to help build rapport and technical confidence, while remaining primarily focused on developing the technical solution and documentation.
* Over time, the role will involve building strong relationships with key industry partners and establishing a valuable network of technical contacts.
* In addition, the role will provide support to the company’s marketing activities, contributing technical insight where required.
* There will a requirement to understand electrical documentation to provide BTP assemblies for cable harness and ITA test fixtures. That will involve identifying suitable material and components for our existing supplier base. Customer parts will need to be established for functionality purposes before handing to purchasing. To ensure documentation packs provided by our customer are complete and accurate, the successful candidate will require good attention to detail skills and technical interpretation.
* Communication and teamwork are critical to this role.
* Define concepts and architectures from customer requirements.
* Onsite sales support for requirement gathering, concept presentation purposes.
* You may be required to perform any other duties and to work in any other areas as requested by the Company, if necessary, which may include other offices and those of clients.


What experience are we looking for?

* Candidates must have a history of success in similar roles, be self‑motivated and have a passion for quality engineering.
* The ability to define and design electrical and mechanical architecture based upon customer requirements (RFQs and Manufacturing Build Packs).
* Is comfortable customer facing.
* Is organised and can work independently to processes and deadline.
* Can technically and commercially engage with suppliers.
* Has experience in estimating labour and materials.
* Has experience with short form quote generation.
* Can pay attention to detail.
* Degree, or equivalent, qualification in a related field – Desirable.
* Familiar with National Instruments platforms – Desirable.
* Familiar with CRM – Desirable.
* Experience in test and measurement engineering – Desirable.
* Driving License.
* Effective communicator across teams, departments and businesses.
* Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple priorities.
* The ability to work on own initiative when required and contribute as a team player.
* A basic level of PC skills mainly Excel and Outlook.
* Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria.
