About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in Leeds on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of critical data migration and archival projects within a modern AWS-based data platform. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting major transformation initiatives, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility throughout its lifecycle. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to design and implement robust data solutions that align with organizational goals.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Data Migration Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of data migration, archival, and management processes.
* Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services, including S3, Glue, Lambda, and other relevant tools.
* Solid knowledge of database systems such as SQL, NoSQL, and data warehousing solutions.
* Strong scripting and programming skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
* Experience with data validation, transformation, and quality assurance techniques.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
* Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics or Solutions Architect are advantageous.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and implement comprehensive data migration and archival solutions that meet business requirements and compliance standards.
* Lead end-to-end data transfer projects, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum data integrity.
* Collaborate with architecture, security, and engineering teams to define best practices, standards, and strategies for data management.
* Create and maintain automated processes for data movement, validation, and reconciliation.
* Monitor data migration activities, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Ensure all data handling complies with relevant security policies, data privacy laws, and organizational standards.
* Document technical specifications, procedures, and best practices to support ongoing maintenance and future projects.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders.
