Overview
An Architect at Block Architects is responsible for delivering high-quality architectural projects from concept to completion. Reporting to the Senior Architect, this role involves working collaboratively with clients, engineers, planning and warrant officers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects meet the highest standards of technical excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction.
The Architect is also expected to follow Block Architects’ Account Management Policy, contributing to client engagement, lead generation, and business development. Full training is provided as part of the onboarding process to ensure architects are equipped to build and maintain strong client relationships effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Design Quality
* Develop design concepts, technical drawings, and specifications in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
* Support the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and planning applications to detailed design and construction.
* Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, planning policies, and sustainability requirements.
* Collaborate with the Senior Architect to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
* Maintain and update client files and project documentation throughout all stages of a project.
* Accept the professional responsibility for your own work regardless of any in-house checking processes.
Client & Account Management
* Follow Block Architects’ Account Management Policy to support client engagement and business development activities.
* Work closely with clients to understand their needs, ensuring their vision is successfully translated into architectural solutions.
* Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, supporting lead generation and client retention efforts.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with past and active clients to encourage repeat business.
* Work closely with the Senior Architect and other team members to contribute to a collaborative and supportive working environment.
* Support junior team members and assist in knowledge sharing to enhance overall team performance.
* Participate in internal training sessions, design reviews, and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities to maintain technical expertise.
Performance & Reporting
* Ensure all projects meet agreed delivery targets and quality standards.
* Provide regular updates to the Senior Architect on project progress and key performance indicators.
* Accurately record time and project activities to ensure efficient resource management.
Skills
* Proficient in Architectural Software Packages; including AutoCAD and Revit
* Self‑motivated and willing to progress with or without direction.
* Team player

General Roles and Responsibilities for ALL Team Members
* Participate and engage with social media & marketing campaigns.
* Participate and engage with internal systems meetings, HR reviews and such like internal structured meetings, as required.

* Carry out and log your own CPD to maintain a professional service competence in line with ARB or your professional body requirements.
* Ensure you develop an awareness of architectural knowledge, design quality, technical excellence, new technologies, sustainability and industry legislation.
* Complete CPD out with office hours. The office will commit to 1 CPD per month, usually held within working hours.
* Register and maintain registration with ARB or your Professional Body.
* Accept a professional responsibility for your own work regardless of any in-house checking processes.
