Day in the life of an Environmental Design Grad

As an environmental designer graduate, a typical day can involve environmental assessments such as energy modelling or embodied carbon calculations, reviewing thermal performance, daylight access, or natural ventilation analysis for various projects. Site visits may be required to supervise sustainable design features or identify opportunities for circular economy strategies. Collaboration with architects and engineers is essential to integrate sustainability goals into the design, with tools like Rhino and IES-VE often used. Early involvement in projects helps accelerate learning, and internal training sessions support practical skill development. There is also a focus on innovation, with time for research and attending conferences on new materials, technologies, legislation, or manufacturing processes, and sharing findings in knowledge sessions and team meetings. Social activities and team-building are encouraged as part of building a strong team culture.
