Role Summary: The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is an experienced field medical expert who plays a strategic role on the field medical team with depth and breadth of business acumen, therapeutic knowledge and serves as an informal leader on the team. The person in this role is a customer facing, field-based extension of our Medical Affairs team. The MSL’s key objective is to create impact through advancing clinical practice within the assigned territory that leads to improved patient outcomes. This individual serves as a key scientific resource, engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and other stakeholders to provide scientific and clinical support for our portfolio. This is a field-based role. Primary Responsibilities Include:
1. Builds awareness of the company within the medical community and develops strategic KOL/territory engagement plans aligned with the medical strategy
2. Supports clinical research (investigator-initiated and company-sponsored), speaker development, and training as needed
3. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the company, its investigational products, and current medical research
4. Maximizes attendance at national and regional conferences to gather insights, assess the competitive landscape, and strengthen relationships
5. Collaborates cross-functionally (clinical, regulatory, market access) to advance business and scientific goals
6. Develops and executes regional medical strategies in alignment with company goals
7. Leads KOL engagement strategies and identifying new scientific leaders
8. Demonstrates business acumen within therapeutic area and understands broader organization and competitive landscape
9. Leads identification and mapping of key KOLs within the therapeutic area, driving engagement strategies
10. Provides strategic leadership within the MSL team as a peer leader, motivator, and problem solver
11. Manages top-tier KOL relationships, synthesizes high-level medical insights, and informs company medical strategies
12. Mentors junior MSLs and contributes to team strategy development
13. Acts as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and clinical teams
14. Collaborates with internal teams (HEOR, access, marketing, sales) to maintain a customer-centric, compliant approach within assigned territory
15. Establishes and develops HCP relationships, engaging in activities such as data discussions, clinical trials, and addressing patient journey barriers
16. Responds to unsolicited information requests in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner
17. Ensures compliant dissemination of scientific and clinical information to healthcare providers
18. Manages administrative tasks (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules) efficiently, including customer profiling and keeping CRM information up to date
Education and Skills Requirements:
19. Advanced scientific degree or equivalent required (e.g., MD, PhD, NP, PharmD, PA)
20. 10+ years of MSL experience is preferred
21. Clinical experience within neuromuscular disorders (e.g., DMD, DM1) preferred; rare disease experience considered
22. Strong knowledge of investigational products and the neuromuscular space, including emerging data
23. In-depth understanding of clinical trial and investigator-sponsored study processes
24. Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
25. Clear understanding of MSL role and responsibilities
26. Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with KOLs through scientific expertise and follow-through
27. Ability to communicate research results clearly to diverse audiences
28. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) for building relationships with colleagues
29. Ability to influence without authority at all levels of the organization and externally
30. Expert in planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks efficiently
31. Capable of working independently and managing time in a home office
32. Adaptable in ambiguous and dynamic environments
33. Leverages past neuromuscular relationships to support study enrollment and site communication
34. Experienced in relationship building to expand company reach
35. Experience with relationship building and expanding a company’s reach
36. Must be willing to travel extensively and occasionally on weekends

MA Pay Range$183,000—$255,000 USD

The pay range reflects the base pay range Dyne reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Individual compensation depends on factors such as education, experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills.
