Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in The University of Cambridge, Cambridge on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be required to have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.

What will you deliver?
1. Undertake fault finding and rectification on low pressure heating water systems, critical systems and equipment and pressurised steam systems
2. Work will be assigned, via an electronic system, for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client
3. To be certified Appointed Person in critical systems, this requires the post holder to be trained, certificated and reassessed at regular intervals
4. To support, advise and action Policy and Safe Working Procedures as a Competent Person (Mechanical)
5. Actively participate in the operation and control of all engineering planned maintenance schemes and undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities to plant
6. Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commission and test in accordance with published procedures
7. Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance
8. Carry out emergency repairs as required (which may require overtime)
9. Obligation to undertake training where necessary to learn new techniques and technology
10. Familiar in the use of Building Management Systems (BMS)
11. Recording of planned and reactive maintenance in the site CAFM systems via electronic data devices
12. Interacting positively with the client and their representatives, proactively sharing information with others
13. May require participation on a call out roster, which will include working unsocial hours

Who are we looking for?
25. Recognised Mechanical/Engineering Apprenticeship HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience
26. Competent in fault finding and diagnostics and procurement of spares
27. Maintains and develops knowledge, capability and competence in latest engineering standards and techniques
28. Possess Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner
29. Must have a full clean UK driving licence (Essential)
30. Be willing to provide out of hours cover when required
31. Sufficient knowledge and skill to be able to use computers
32. Be willing to complete role specific training on and off site
This role includes an enhanced DBS check (including barred lists) therefore ability to pass is essential.
