Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual interested in women's football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
We seek Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist will play a key role in our long-term vision for AFC Wimbledon Women.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s players, from the 1st team to pathway players occasionally.
Candidates should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This role offers opportunities for internal CPD, keeping current with literature, understanding scope of practice, and enhancing practical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players pre-game
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records, uploading them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, the strength and conditioning team, and players about injuries and availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with all club policies, including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* In-date EMFAif qualification (and willingness for annual reaccreditation)
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehab planning
* Medical insurance suitable for semi-professional women’s footballers
* Ability to play or participate in football at a high level
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
