To support this, we're looking for an Environmental Information Manager to join our head office team in Warrington and play a pivotal role in how we manage, interpret, and share environmental information with the world.
This is an opportunity to influence environmental transparency at scale, shape how we respond to public and regulatory scrutiny, and help ensure our data tells the right story accurately, responsibly, and confidently.
The Role
As our Environmental Information Manager, you'll be a senior member of the Environmental Information team, supporting the Head of Environmental Information in managing the release of environmental data to third parties. You'll lead the preparation of high‑quality responses to Environmental Information Requests (EIRs), ensuring our submissions are accurate, timely, and underpinned by robust, approved data.
You'll take ownership of the more complex or high‑profile requests, while guiding and developing two analysts who support the function. Your expertise will help shape how we engage with customers, stakeholders, and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ensuring we respond with clarity, confidence, and professionalism.
This is a fast paced, stakeholder‑heavy role where your ability to influence, collaborate, and make sound decisions will be essential.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading the production of high‑quality responses to complex Environmental Information Requests.
Supporting and reviewing simpler requests produced by analysts, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Managing escalations and queries from customers, stakeholders, and the ICO, ensuring follow‑up actions are completed to a high standard.
Monitoring ICO guidance, best practice, and enforcement actions to continually improve our approach.
Influencing across a matrix organisation on complex environmental topics.
Making balanced decisions where outcomes may be uncertain or sensitive.
Developing and supporting two analysts, helping them build capability and confidence.
Building strong relationships across the business to ensure data is understood, validated, and communicated effectively.
Applying exemptions appropriately under EIR and assessing the sensitivity of information.
Providing insight through strong data analysis and interpretation.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in people who thrive in complex, regulated environments those who can balance transparency with responsibility and who understand the reputational impact of environmental information.
You'll bring:
Experience in stakeholder and reputation management, ideally within a public‑sector or regulated environment (local authorities, NHS, police, government bodies, etc.).
Strong understanding of environmental regulations, ideally including EIR and FOI.
High numeracy and experience working with environmental data and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of water/wastewater operations or other regulated operational environments.
Experience influencing and collaborating across diverse teams.
Resilience, tenacity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Awareness of statutory obligations around environmental information, data protection, and GDPR.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to present information clearly and accessibly.
Strategic thinking and sound problem‑solving skills.
A degree in a business‑related or environmental discipline is preferred but not essential.
