Care Support Assistant – Specialist SEND Setting (Northumberland)
Full-Time | Term-Time Only | September Start | PAYE
Looking for a role where your care makes a genuine difference, every single day?
We’re working with a warm, inclusive specialist school in Northumberland that supports children and young people aged 2–19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex health needs, and physical disabilities.
This is a setting where routines are personalised, progress looks different for every child, and kindness is at the heart of everything they do. If you’re nurturing, reliable, and ready to be part of a highly skilled care team—this could be a brilliant fit.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supporting pupils with personal care, feeding, mobility, and sensory regulation
* Working alongside therapists, teachers, and other support staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care
* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may communicate non-verbally
* Using structured routines and visual communication systems (PECS, Makaton, AAC)
* Encouraging independence, safety, and dignity in everything you do
You’ll be great in this role if you:
* Have experience in care, health, social care, or SEND settings
* Are confident with—or open to learning—moving & handling, hoisting, and personal care
* Bring a calm, positive attitude and strong sense of teamwork
* Want to be part of a setting where small steps mean big wins
Full training is provided. Care backgrounds welcome—nursing, domiciliary, residential or early years experience all valued.
What you’ll get with Protocol Education:
* Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella fees
* Free training including Thrive and specialist PMLD CPD
* Support from a local consultant who truly understands SEND and care-based roles
* The opportunity to work in a team where your care is truly valued
