Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Secondary School Location: Lambeth Start Date: September 2025 We are looking for a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school in Lambeth from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident HLTA with a proven track record in supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with students aged 11-16, providing both in-class and small-group support, and play a key role in developing inclusive practice across the school. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality classroom cover during teacher absence (both planned and unplanned) Lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants across Key Stages 3 and 4 Work in partnership with the SENCO and Inclusion Team to strengthen SEND and autism provision Plan and deliver targeted group interventions tailored to neurodivergent learners Foster positive behaviour, social development, and emotional wellbeing Identify and report safeguarding, bullying, or wellbeing concerns appropriately Support administrative tasks related to inclusion and contribute to staff development Essential Skills & Experience: HLTA qualification (or recognised equivalent) Experience supporting students with autism in a secondary school setting Strong knowledge of SEND strategies, particularly in relation to ASC, ADHD, and SEMH Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills Ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families A genuine passion for inclusive education and student success What We Offer: A collaborative and supportive school community Ongoing CPD and clear opportunities for career development Flexible working options, where possible Access to our employee wellbeing programme (including virtual GP, counselling, and legal advice) The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in LambethIf you're a proactive and empathetic HLTA ready to help shape an inclusive and supportive learning environment, we'd love to hear from you.
