Job Introduction
Autism Anglia is a well-established independent charity. We have opportunities available for Support Workers who can drive and hold a full UK Driving License, on a full-time and part-time basis. Working from our Supported Living Services or Peldon Campus in Colchester, Essex.
The successful Support Worker will assist people on the autistic spectrum, some with additional Learning Disabilities, enabling them to maximize their potential and develop life skills across multiple activities. The role involves working as part of a team to help individuals achieve their own life goals through person-centred planning.
This role is suitable for someone with previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), or Carer, particularly caring for autistic individuals or those with Learning Disabilities in a healthcare setting.
Autism Anglia is dedicated to providing ongoing training, supervision, continuing professional development, and support, including an extensive induction upon employment.
Location: Colchester and Peldon Campus
Salary: Up to £24,019.67 per annum (£12.45 per hour)
Hours: Full-Time and Part-Time hours; up to 37 hours per week; overtime available

The Role
1. Working with the team to provide a strengths-based, outcome-focused approach for all individuals.
2. Driving individuals to appointments, social outings, shopping, and other activities.
3. Maintaining dignity, respect, and privacy by assisting with personal care, health, and hygiene activities, which may include sport, leisure, cultural, and recreational activities, day trips, short breaks, or holidays.
4. Supporting communication, psychological monitoring, intervention, and sensory support tasks.
5. Ensuring the quality of support meets individual needs, with regular review and updates of documentation.
6. Keeping accurate records and support plans/risk assessments aligned with each individual’s requirements.
7. Understanding and adhering to Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults procedures, acting on concerns according to policy.
Applications are welcome from Support Workers who:
1. Can manage emotionally and physically challenging situations and behaviours.
2. Have experience as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Healthcare Assistant, or Carer, preferably with Autism or Learning Disabilities.
3. Can identify the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals, including those with communication needs.
4. Have experience with Autism and intensive behavioural support.
5. Are skilled in activity coordination and knowledgeable about local opportunities.
6. Possess a good range of communication skills.
7. Hold a full, clean UK Driving License.
