What's the job?
1. Partner with the Category Directors, providing key insight to help drive performance and influence decision making
2. Take the lead on business partnering across all commercial categories, providing support to the Business Partner and analyst population
3. Provide challenge to the commercial categories to ensure meaningful decisions are made, taking account of both short and long term impacts
4. Develop key assumptions to support short and long term planning including advice on trade-offs and opportunities
5. Bring clarity of targets and drive accountability of ownership through effective communication, MI and performance review
6. Tracking progress against targets throughout the year in order to be able to advise on timely corrective action plans where necessary
7. Educate and coach commercial teams to improve financial acumen and awareness
8. Ensure end to end business ownership, across all P&L lines and business channels
9. Provide the right level of governance & control over key trading decisions
10. Use business knowledge & judgement to prioritise where Finance can most influence risks & opportunities
11. Develop strong working relationships & process with other Finance teams to bring simplicity, control & business improvement
12. Management and development of two direct reports, role modelling values and behaviours within Business Performance
13. Effective planning and prioritising, making decisions about commercial finance team resource and managing stakeholder expectations
14. Deputy for Head of Commercial Finance across the category agenda
What we need:
15. >5 years post qualified experience, preferably in a fast paced retail environment
16. Ability to problem solve complex issues and recommend actions in a clear & concise manner
17. Strong stakeholder management skills, working collaboratively and influencing effectively
18. Excellent communication skills, able to flex style to different audiences
19. Resilience in a high pressure environment with positive attitude to change / ambiguity
20. End to end thinker - joins up business issues and external factors, and looks for root causes
Essential:
Professional accountancy qualification (. CIMA / ACCA / ACA etc)
