Main duties of the job
We are recruiting qualified Band 5 Operating Department Practitioners to join our busy theatre department, mainly focusing on anaesthetics. Our specialties include ENT, Maxillo-facial, Gynaecology, Bariatrics, Trauma, Orthopaedics, among others. Successful applicants will receive support through a preceptorship program.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Be a skilled member of the Operating Theatre Team across various specialties or in anesthetic/recovery roles
* Report incidents affecting patients or staff and participate in investigations
* Ensure equipment is safe and ready for use; report defects
* Participate in stock evaluation and supply management
* Advocate for patient safety, well-being, and dignity
* Assess patient anxiety/discomfort and provide reassurance
* Participate in Patient Safety initiatives
* Maintain patient confidentiality
* Accurately record theatre activity data
Managerial responsibilities
* Take charge in the absence of Senior Practitioners and Team Leaders
Person specification
* Diploma or Higher Education in Operating Department Practice; registration with NMC or HCPC
* Experience in perioperative settings; support for career development
* Effective communication skills with staff, patients, and relatives
* Knowledge of theatre practice, NHS procedures, and monitoring equipment
* Post-registration education, research, and audit knowledge
* Teaching skills, IT proficiency, time management, planning, and organization skills
