Introduction
Indaver leads the field in sustainable waste management in Europe, providing high-quality, cost-effective services in municipal, industrial, and hazardous waste markets. Our operations span Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, the UK, and Ireland. Currently, in Essex, Indaver is constructing a facility that will process approximately [amount] tonnes of residual waste per year and generate enough electricity to power around [number] homes. We plan to hire about 65 specialists to operate and maintain this large-scale plant.
The Production Shift Operator works within a 24/7, 5-shift rota system. Alongside the Shift Team Leader and Deputy, the operator is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Rivenhall facility.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Monitoring and managing personal safety measures.
2. Overseeing technical and operational safety of the facility.
3. Promoting a Safety First culture.
4. Coordinating activities with external interconnected systems, ensuring clear roles and safety controls.
5. Operating within Permit to Work and safety systems, aiming for safety controller status.
6. Taking actions to operate the facility safely and responsibly.
7. Ensuring emissions stay within prescribed limits.
8. Delivering annual production targets: waste throughput, electricity export, heat take-off.
9. Managing consumables and additives availability.
10. Managing bunker levels for waste homogeneity and operational efficiency.
11. Performing safe residue disposal operations.
12. Executing maintenance and compliance monitoring per plans to minimize operational losses.
13. Operating Digital Control Systems (DCS) when required.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Minimum GCSE A-C in science, maths, and/or English; relevant experience acceptable in lieu of qualifications.
2. Operational shift experience in power generation or continuous process industries preferred.
3. At least 2 years of relevant experience.
4. Experience with Safe Systems of Work is desirable.
5. Proficiency with control interfaces and computer-based control systems.
6. Interest and understanding of complex mechanical/electrical systems.
7. Concern for safety, people, and the environment.
8. Personal transport is essential due to limited public transport.
9. Eligible to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship available.

Work Location:
On-site at Woodhouse Farm, Woodhouse Lane, Kelvedon, Essex, CO5 9DF. The position involves 12-hour shifts over a 5-shift pattern to ensure 24/7 operation.
