The Opportunity
As an Operations Technician, you will undertake operational activities outside the main control room under the guidance of the Main Control Room, Temporary Control Room, or CommOps. You will monitor equipment and plant performance, identify deviations, and respond to faults following operational procedures. Emergency Scheme duties will be part of your role, with full training provided.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will support system handovers, commissioning, maintenance, and contract activities, ensuring safety and readiness. The role will evolve into a shift position with emergency team duties. You will monitor plant performance, ensure compliance with regulations and safety rules, and contribute to continuous improvement through reporting, mentoring, and reviewing procedures.
You will take responsibility for your actions, acknowledge errors, seek support when needed, and perform emergency duties. Promoting a safety culture, supporting work management, participating in training, and assisting in projects are also key responsibilities.
Who You Are
You should have a solid understanding of plant systems and experience supporting complex projects in safety-critical environments. A background in power or heavy industry, with a technical or engineering qualification, is desirable. Candidates with experience in power, process engineering, or roles like Senior Authorised Persons will have an advantage.
Minimum requirements include GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C or above. Additional technical qualifications are beneficial.
