ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operates steam, combustion, hydroelectric turbines, aligns, drains, and makes all necessary adjustments during operations. Performs minor and major mechanical maintenance on plant equipment during maintenance activities.
2. Inspects all plant equipment inside and outside, checks and lubricates equipment following prescribed procedures, records readings on log sheets, and reports non-routine items.
3. Uses AECC's Enterprise Asset Management System to identify maintenance needs and track activities and statistics supporting maintenance and operations.
4. Travels to remote hydroelectric and combustion turbine plants to perform assigned tasks.
5. Participates in training programs to improve skills continually.
6. Cleans assigned work areas as directed.
7. Follows all safety protocols and internal policies regarding NERC and FERC compliance.
8. Adheres to laws, regulations, and environmental permit requirements.
9. Performs water tests and operates water treatment equipment like demineralizers, reverse osmosis units, and filtration systems.
10. Performs security duties, including visitor screening and patrols, to enforce security policies.
11. Assists with equipment lockout/tagout procedures for maintenance.
12. Performs preventive maintenance to ensure reliable operation of all plant equipment.
13. Supports boiler operations and duties related to fuel oil handling, including unloading, cleaning, and spill cleanup.
14. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervision, within physical capability.
15. Maintains regular attendance and flexibility to work outside scheduled hours to ensure continuous service.
16. Handles stress effectively and collaborates well with others.
17. Performs any other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, with emphasis on office or shop skills, plus 2 years of related experience or equivalent education and training.
Tech II: High school or GED, plus specialized training (trade extension, night courses, correspondence) equivalent to two years of college, plus 4 years of related experience or training.
Tech III: Same education as Tech II, plus 5 years of related experience or training. Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles under 26,000 pounds. Welding certification required for welding qualification.
Required Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Valid driver's license. Arkansas Boiler License.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, electrical shocks, high places, wet/humid conditions, vibration, fumes, chemicals, outdoor weather. Noise level usually loud.
Physical Activities
Moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, handling objects, climbing, stooping, and occasional lifting over 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
Additional Information
Shift work required. Must qualify as maintenance technician or junior operator per internal policies.
