SEN Teaching Assistant - Ware
Education & Training Opportunity
£460 - £500 per week
A welcoming and inclusive specialist school in Ware is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of complex learning and developmental needs. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require extra support to participate in school life and learning activities. The children you will support have a variety of additional needs, and each pupil will require a tailored and compassionate approach.
The needs of the learners at this Ware school include:
* Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties - pupils who may have significant physical and learning disabilities and require high levels of support with communication, mobility, and personal care
* Severe Learning Difficulties - learners who may find it challenging to process information, develop language skills, and work independently
* Autism Spectrum Condition - pupils who may struggle with social communication, sensory processing, and changes in routine
* Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - children who may experience difficulties with concentration, impulse control, and staying focused during lessons
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting pupils during lessons to help them engage with learning activities
* Working one-to-one or with small groups to provide personalised support
* Assisting with communication strategies such as visual aids and structured routines
* Helping pupils develop independence, confidence, and social skills
* Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
* Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN specialists
* Helping to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Compassionate and understanding when working with vulnerable pupils
* Comfortable supporting learners who may require extra patience and reassurance
* Interested in gaining experience within education and training
* A good communicator who works well as part of a team
* Calm, adaptable, and able to respond positively to different situations
* Previous SEN experience is helpful but not essential. The school values individuals who are enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn.
