Job Introduction
A secondment opportunity has arisen for a Transmission Coordination Team Leader based at Avonbank, Pegasus, Tipton or Lamby for a period of up to 12 months, subject to review.
Reporting to the Head of Transmission Distribution Interface, the Transmission Coordination Team Leader will oversee the activities of Transmission Coordination team within the DSO Transmission Distribution Interface (TDI) function.
The role is responsible for the effective operational management of Transmission–Distribution (T‑D) interface processes, ensuring compliance with distribution licence condition requirements and the effective management of activities to deliver services for customers and the wider business.
The role will oversee the coordination and delivery of TDI outputs to support embedded generation and demand connection offers and ensure the continued effective management of Technical Limits and associated reporting across NGED licence areas.
The Transmission Coordination Team Leader will provide leadership to the team, setting clear objectives, guiding priorities and ensuring high standards of performance in line with National Grid values.
As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
Main Responsibilities
Transmission–Distribution Interface Delivery & Commercial Oversight
* Coordinate the submission of project Transmission Entry Assessments (TEA) through NESO’s Connection Portal, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
* Support the on‑going delivery of Connections Reform for the current CMP435 process and enduring CMP434 process.
* Ensure the timely creation and issue of variation letters to customers, subject to transmission sign‑off.
* Liaise with network planners, team managers and other departments across the business to ensure the T‑D interface operates effectively and that timely, accurate information is provided to internal teams and customers.
* Work with the DSO System Access Reforms function to review appropriate legal terms in offers and variation letters issued to customers.
* Maintain Technical Limits at all NGED GSPs and deliver reporting as required to NESO to demonstrate continued compliance with agreed contracts and frameworks.
* Support the delivery and ongoing management of Technical Limits across NGED licence areas, ensuring parameters are suitably maintained to enable connection progression and DSO operations.
* Manage and collate key reporting datasets for Ofgem and the ENA, ensuring data quality, accuracy and timely submission.
Team Leadership, Collaboration, & Continuous Improvement
* Provide leadership and guidance to Transmission Coordination team members, offering support and direction as required to ensure team capability and resilience.
* Set team objectives aligned to team outcomes.
* Work with team members to track results and identify areas of improvement and development.
* Balance team resources and take corrective action where necessary. Monitor performance and support continued professional development.
* Maintain strong working relationships across NGED, NGET and NESO to support the effective operation of the T‑D interface.
* Coordinate engineering analysis and assessments through effective communication and collaboration with NGED Primary Network Design (PND) teams.
* Lead engagement with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding of TDI processes.
Ideal Candidate
Experience operating within a distribution or transmission environment with a proven leadership skills and a record of managing teams would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across functions whilst proving strong analytical capability with a focus on data quality and process compliance.
A good understanding of power generation, transmission and distribution industries would be beneficial.
You need to be able to present information clearly and apply sound judgement in managing complex operational matters and be organised and process-driven, with the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively.
