Freelance Project Manager – Civils Location: Remote / Hybrid with site visits (UK-based) Contract Type: Freelance / Contract Industry: Civil Engineering / Environmental Services Day Rate: Competitive, DOE (for CV post library aim between £400-£500) Start Date: Immediate / Flexible About the Company A well-established environmental and civil engineering consultancy delivering specialist services across the UK. The company supports infrastructure, construction, utilities, and public sector projects with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and sustainability. Due to continued growth in the civils division, they are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to oversee a variety of enabling works and civil engineering schemes. The Role This freelance opportunity is ideal for a skilled Project Manager with experience in small-to-medium scale civils projects, such as groundworks, remediation, drainage, and enabling works. You will work closely with site managers, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure seamless delivery from planning through to completion. Key Responsibilities * Manage the delivery of civil engineering and enabling works projects * Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards * Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans * Liaise with clients, local authorities, and internal stakeholders * Coordinate subcontractors and ensure quality control on site * Conduct risk assessments and manage change effectively * Prepare regular progress reports and ensure contractual obligations are met Requirements * Proven experience managing civils or infrastructure projects * Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations, health & safety, and construction standards * Excellent organisational and communication skills * Ability to manage multiple workstreams and subcontractors * Experience working with public sector or utility clients is an advantage * CSCS card and SMSTS or equivalent desirable * Relevant qualifications (e.g. Civil Engineering degree, APM, PRINCE2) preferred What’s on Offer * Flexible freelance contract with long-term potential * Competitive day rates * Supportive and collaborative team culture * Involvement in diverse and meaningful infrastructure projects If this is a role that looks of interest please get in contact with the number or email provided.
